The third
grade students of Hilltop Elementary have been learning about rocks and
minerals in Science. Mineral identification and classification is one of the
third grade standards. The Hilltop third graders had a hands on experience of
mining real gems. Diamond Del’s Gem Mining Adventure, with flumes and flowing
water, gave the students an interactive mining experience. Students sluice
their ore in the water flume and discovered their own gems. The Hilltop
third graders will never forget the experience. Pictured are some of the Hilltop
