Demons blitz Panthers in 5

With fields returned to playing condition after days of

inclement weather, Warner Robins High baseball went to the Perry High Panther

Pit Tuesday and won 12-2 in five innings. The Demons had nine hits to five for

Perry.

 

Trey Maddox topped the Warner Robins offense with three hits

and four runs batted in. A.J. Priaulx, though not credited with a safety,

managed to bring home three runs. Caden Johnston doubled with one RBI, and as a

pitcher the football quarterback struck out four in two innings.

 

Jarrod Crum also threw two innings for the Demons fanning

three.

 

Perry had two hits – one a double – and an RBI from J.W.

Gentry. Myles Sowell worked 4 1/3 innings striking out four.

On Wednesday, Perry played another non-region baseball game,

this one on the road. The Panthers fell 11-8 at First Presbyterian Day in

Macon.

 

Jake Farrell belted a grand slam among his three hits.

Gentry and Seth Moss each brought in two runs.

 

The first win of the 2013 season for Perry came on Feb. 21

at home against Peach County 9-8. In that game, Perry put up five runs in the

bottom of the sixth as Peach was ahead 6-4 after four complete and scored two

in the top of the sixth.

 

The Trojans had just four hits, all singles. Perry

registered seven hits, including Farrell’s two triples. He drove in two runs,

as did Matt Davis. Gentry and Sowell each drove home a run on an extra-base

hit.

 

Sowell, the third hurler used by coach Shawn Masters, got

the win going the final 1 1/3 innings. Starter John Hartzog had six strikeouts

in 3 2/3.
