Special to the Journal

The young ladies in Brownie Troop 60399 donated $250 of their Girl Scout Cookie sales profit to Habitat for Humanity. Then they spent a day helping Jasmine Swaray landscape the backyard of her new home. Their hard work and interest in gardening impressed Master Gardener Diane Stephens.

“They planted shrubs and color beds making a great impression on the Swaray family,” noted Stephens. “Their effort and contribution plant seeds for much more than plants.”

Tom Prior, HoCo Habitat executive director, thanked the troop.

“We admire your generosity. You sure worked hard selling cookies and now your $250 donation will purchase a few interior doors and several light fixtures. You will make a big difference for a family.”
