WRPD investigating robbery incident following shooting on Terry Kay Circle
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in a neighborhood south of Watson Boulevard Tuesday evening.
According to the Warner Robins Police Department, around 5 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Terry Kay Circle initially in response to an aggravated assault.
At the time, the victim — a 17-year-old male — advised officers that while he was walking down the street, an unknown suspect had shot him in the face.
Preliminary investigations by the police department determined the incident was an alleged robbery at a residence on Terry Kay Circle. A possible suspect has been identified, with warrants forthcoming.
The victim originally described the suspect as a Black male wearing a black ski mask. After the shooting, multiple people fled the scene. It was later determined that the parties involved knew each other.
The victim was transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon for surgery, and he is currently in stable condition.
Multiple eyewitnesses were interviewed concerning the incident, which is currently still under investigation.
Sgt. Justin Clark with the Warner Robins Police Department said since the people involved knew each other, this case was not a random act of violence. Still, he encouraged the community to be vigilant toward potential crime.
“The biggest thing is to keep your eyes open,” Clark said. “Please call and report anything suspicious in your neighborhoods. That’s what we’re here for: To check out any suspicious incidents or anything that puts you on edge.”
Anyone with more information is encouraged to call Detective Trent VanLannen at (478) 302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME. Macon Regional Crimestoppers will offer a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.
