WRPD investigates 4th homicide of 2019
Officers with the Warner Robins Police Department were dispatched to the Express Shop located at 700 Russell Pkwy in reference to an armed robbery, Sunday around 5:30p.m.
When officers arrived, they first determined that a store clerk was shot during the robbery, but later found the victim was a spouse of an employee. The victim was identified as 49 year-old, Navaneetbhai Patel. Patel was transported to the Houston Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the GBI (Georgia Bureau Investigation) Crime Lab.
There were customers inside the business, as well as an employee, when the incident occurred. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
The department cannot release any video footage because the video surveillance system was inoperable at the time of the robbery.
The suspect is described as medium height, wearing all black clothing, and last seen fleeing on foot behind the business.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Justin Clark or Detective Chad Pierce at (478) 302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
