WRPD and District Attorney announce murder conviction in 2023 shooting
The Warner Robins Police Department and District Attorney’s Office announce the murder conviction of the suspect involved in 2023 shooting.
WARNER ROBINS – The Warner Robins Police Department and Houston County District Attorney’s Office announced the murder conviction of Andre Slocumb.
The crime occurred on May 29, 2023, as officers responded to a shooting death of a victim at 108 Wendon Way. The deceased victim, Anthony Presley, was shot multiple times with a high-caliber firearm while sitting in his own car. Agencies believe the crime may have been committed due to an ongoing feud between Solcumb and Presley about an alleged drug debt.
According to the press release sent out by the Warner Robins Police Department, the Criminalist Division responded and processed the scene for evidence.
“I recall visiting this crime scene and speaking with detectives on the scene less than a year ago, now we have a conviction,” District Attorney William Kendall said. “This is an example of comprehensive swift justice, as it should be.”
The United States Marshall’s Southeast Regional Task Force assisted with the investigation, provided leads regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, and located Slocumb’s green SUV in Rome, Georgia.
The Rome Police Department and the Southeast Regional Task Force were able to locate Slocumb rather quickly. Slocumb was states away as he was taken into custody in Terre Haute, Indiana, on June 21, 2023.
On May 8, 2024, Slocumb was found guilty of malice murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The Warner Robins Police Department was grateful for the assistance given by each officer involved in this extensive investigation, along with the Rome Police Department and the U.S. Marshall’s Southeast Regional Task Force, which helped resolve this case rather quickly.
“A job well done by WRPD, Rome PD, USMS and prosecutors. I appreciate our law enforcement for the determination and thorough investigation,” Kendall said.
