Worthy Of Appreciation
There have been, and are, people responsible for the successful things we see each day: people working in plain sight but not seen. Whether it is a mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin, or friend, there have been many women who have impacted our lives. Maybe yours was a teacher, doctor, nurse, counselor, or babysitter. Whatever you have become in life, somewhere, a woman plays a significant role in it. The month of March is Women’s History Month, a time to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of some amazing people.
It does not matter what field of endeavor you think of; there have always been women who played a role in the development, implementation and success of it. From the cradle to the grave, women have mattered. Look around, and you do not have to look closely. You will see people, places and things that benefit from the contributions of women.
There will be some who question why we have to bring attention to what women contribute. I would suggest that you look at the discrepancy in the areas of pay, where a woman usually gets paid 80% of what men get paid. I would suggest you look at the discrepancy in representation in board rooms and other decision-making chambers. I would say that no matter what metric you consider, women produce but are underappreciated in tangible and intangible ways.
Thank you to all of the amazing women in science, business, politics, education, arts, religion, healthcare, law, first responders, industry, athletics and all of the other arenas of life who shake up and change the world every day.
