Westside Lady Hornets dominate Heritage Lady Hawks in senior night double header

PERRY, Ga. — The Westfield Lady Hornets did excellent work on both sides of the mound to keep the Heritage Lady Hawks scoreless in both games of their doubleheader on Thursday.

The Lady Hornets started with Lauren Davidson on the mound for the first game and she kept the ball in the strike zone the entire game.

Davidson only allowed one single in the first inning, and in the second and third inning she struck six batters in a row.

On the offensive side the Lady Hornets scored five runs in each of the first three innings, ending the game 15-0.

The bottom of the first started with Kendall Fowler hitting a double followed by a RBI single from Madison Hammock.

Carleigh Knowles was walked followed by an outfield hit that sent Hammock and Knowles home.

After a couple of more ground balls by Chloe Hills, Emmy Dehem and a double by Riley Nelson the inning ended 5-0 Lady Hornets.

The second and third inning were dominated by the Lady Hornets in the strike zone. The Lady Hawks started Avery Medford as a new pitcher in the second inning and the Hornets scored five runs.

Between games the Lady Hornets recognized their three seniors: Knowles, Fowler and Dehem.

In the second game, Amelie Thornton started on the mound for the Lady Hawks and Camilla Bloodworth on the mound for the Lady Hornets.

The game went to six innings with a lower score then the first one, and ended 8-0 with the Hornets dominating both games.

In the first inning Hammock hit a double to right field, followed by another double from Knowles, ending the inning 2-0 Lady Hornets.

Both teams were quiet in the second, and the Lady Hornets kept dominating the rest of the game tallying runs in the third and fourth innings.

Both teams were scoreless for the fifth and sixth innings before the game was called, 8-0 Lady Hornets.

UP NEXT

The Lady Hornets will start next week off with a road trip to Locust Grove to play Strong Rock Christian High School on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. They’ll continue their stint on the road Wednesday, Sept. 27 in Milledgeville to visit John Milledge Academy at 4:00 p.m.

To finish the week, the Lady Hornets will host Brookstone on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 6:00 p.m.
