Welfare check becomes homicide investigation
BONAIRE, Ga. — Warner Robins Police Department is now investigating a suspected murder suicide case that opened on Monday afternoon.
According to the police department, officers were dispatched to a home on the 100 block of Edgarton Way in Bonaire. They responded to the call around 11 a.m.
Once on scene, officers discovered three people who had been shot and later died at the house. The deceased were identified as 84-year old Betsy Burke and 34-year-old Tiara Burke, both of Bonaire. Also found deceased at the scene was 35-year-old Antwain Everett of Macon.
With a sizeable amount left to discover about the case, forensics worked the scene on Monday afternoon. The case began as a welfare check, but has since evolved into a murder suicide case.
Officers responded to this case nearly one hour after two bodies were found at an apartment complex on Cohen Walker Drive during a separate welfare check, however, the police department does not believe the two cases are connected, and does not believe they are random acts of violence.
Reflecting on this ongoing case with the Journal, Interim Chief Wayne Fisher encouraged the community to think before using violence to settle differences.
“From a societal standpoint, I think we need to all slow down, take deep breaths, and use more rational thought and conversation to work through things instead of resorting to violence, and use the intellectual side of the brain and not the primal side,” Fisher said.
Det. Broussard is leading the investigation. Anyone with more information is encouraged to contact him directly at (478) 302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
