Warner Robins utilities department receives awards
The Georgia Association of Water Professionals presented four awards to the city’s utilities department at Monday night’s Warner Robins City Council meeting.
The department was awarded the Water System Gold Award for perfect compliance, Wastewater Gold Award for Ocmulgee Wastewater Plant, Water Laboratory of the Year Award for quality assurance and Wastewater Laboratory of the Year Award for quality assurance.
Following the meeting, director Montie Walters said he’s been with the city for 27 years.
“If we have a problem, we address it immediately,” he said, noting they make sure that the water is fresh and clean. “That’s our guys working 24/7 to make sure of that. We have quality drinking water.”
He also noted they provide sewer service to most of central Georgia.
Walters said they have invested $30 million is the last three years in upgrades on the lab to continue with growth.
“Without quality water service, you can’t grow,” he commented.
The department was commended on their leadership and great teamwork.
During the meeting, Walters presented Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms with a national eagle award for total compliance for their construction work.
“This signifies the work that all of our employees and our partners do together to make what we do a great product to present to our citizens,” Toms said, thanking them for all that they do.
The city’s water and wastewater plants are operated by ESG Operations Inc., which has been working with the city’s utilities department for seven years now.
With them winning the awards consecutively, Walters says their next goal is to win Plant of the Year.
