Officers began pursuing King along Watson Boulevard, where he struck two police vehicles. Houston County Sheriff’s Office was in the vicinity and responded to assist.

According to HCSO social media, King began driving recklessly and into oncoming traffic. Lt. Justin Andrews with the HCSO intervened by striking the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and was reported stable. Neither King or any officers were injured.

King was arrested and charged with aggravated assault – family violence, aggravated assault, criminal interference with government property, first-degree criminal damage to property, possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and various traffic-related charges.

On Facebook, Sheriff Matt Moulton praised Andrews for his quick thinking.

Moulton said, “His decisive action successfully stopped the suspect and safely ended the pursuit before innocent lives could be placed in further danger.

“Situations like this unfold in seconds and require calm judgment, courage, and leadership under intense pressure. Lt. Andrews demonstrated all three. His willingness to act decisively protected our community and prevented what could have been a tragic outcome.

“I want to commend Lieutenant Justin Andrews for his professionalism, leadership, and quick action during this very stressful situation.”
