Warner Robins Police investigating after clerk shot in hand during altercation

According to law enforcement, the altercation took place at a convenience store on Chilton Place.

WARNER ROBINS — The Warner Robins Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault that took place Monday during an altercation at a local convenience store.

According to a press release, officers responded to the Friendly Food Store on Chilton Place on Dec. 15.

Preliminary investigation identified the suspect as Laquanda Fluellen, 39, who was playing gaming machines and demanded a cash payout. When the clerk refused, she became agitated and began yelling.

Fluellen retrieved a fire extinguisher and chased the clerk, who knocked it from her hands. She then pointed a gun at the clerk.

During a struggle over the firearm, it discharged and struck the clerk in the hand.

Fluellen left the store but was located nearby with the firearm and taken into custody.

The clerk was transported to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment and is in stable condition.
