Warner Robins gears up for second Food Truck Roundup

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The city of Warner Robins is going bigger and better for their second rendition of Food Truck Roundup. This Thursday, the city is back at Perkins Field with more food, more fun and, as the city hopes for, more people.

In addition, the event promises staples from August’s event to make a return, from the Kids Zone, to Touch-A-Truck, to live music, this time by Makeda Machelle & Band.

According to City Clerk Mandy Stella, the inaugural Food Truck Roundup in September was considered a success. The city saw around 5000 in attendance throughout the evening, and wasted no time planning the next one.

“We’re really excited about those numbers and we think that the community is excited as well. We’re excited to host our September Food Truck Roundup this Thursday, and we’ve got more vendors added, and we’re just super excited,” Stella said.

While feedback was mainly positive, the city heard concerns about the first event needing shade, more seating and more vendors. Stella said the city took citizen feedback into consideration and September’s event promises all of these.

“We are going to have an increase in food trucks, that will be present. We are going to have some designated seating for those who may not have brought chairs or forgot. We are going to have some bleachers in place for people who are just there to watch the concert and we are going to have some tents up for shade,” Stella explained.

Planning the event was a collaborative effort between multiple departments, with Stella describing the planning process as “a lot of fun.”

“Our departments work well together, and so we are able to plan events like this and it not be a burden on one single department. We’re excited for events like this to be happening in our city and us for us to be able to host something of this magnitude. The citizens have been heard and Mayor Patrick and her efforts has made this happen,” Stella said.

Overall, Stella explained the Food Truck Roundup is a great way to kick off the weekend, as well as a fun, family friendly, event that fits into part of the city’s mission to bring the community together and increase quality of life.

“It’s a fun, family friendly atmosphere, even for single individuals or individuals who may not have children. It’s a fun event to come to. And then for families, it’s a great family friendly atmosphere that kids and adults can both have fun,” Stella said.

After September’s round of Food Truck Roundup, the city will bring the scares in a spooky themed event for October.

This month’s Food Truck Roundup will take place Sept. 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Perkins Field, located at 105 Mulberry Court.
