Warner Robins dryer fire burns Williams Terrace home
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — In the early pre-sunrise hours of Monday morning, several units from the Warner Robins Fire Department raced down city streets to respond to a 2:05 a.m. 911 call reporting a house fire on Williams Terrace. Within minutes, firefighters were on scene beating back the growing blaze.
According to Fire Chief Ross Moulton, the resident of the home was drying clothes when the fire began. They entered into the area of their residence to find their utility room in flames.
“Upon [our] investigation, speaking with residents determined that the fire started in the dryer, located in an attached exterior utility room,” Moulton said. “The fire then got into the kitchen and attic, and burned across the house.”
The bedrooms and bathroom of the home were not affected by any of the flames, but did take on some smoke damage.
One resident was reported to have been in the home during the time of the fire, and escaped the blaze without injury.
Moulton added the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the resident of the home.
WRFD arrived on the scene at 2:09 a.m. All units left the property at approximately 4:29 a.m. with the fire and all subsequent hot spots fully doused.
Although Moulton himself was not at the scene, he commented on the hard work and dedication of his team who handled the job.
“They got in there and got it knocked down pretty quick,” Moulton said. “All of them are trained and incredible at what they do. They have the mental fortitude and physical capability to get the job done, and they train to make good decisions like fighting fire unburned to burned to stop the progression of the fire and push it back where it came from.
“They’re master at their skills.”
