WARNER ROBINS, Ga – The Veterans Warhawks hosted their homecoming game against the Northgate Vikings on Friday night that resulted in a well fought upset for the Vikings, who won 35-14.

The Warhawks walked into this game with a 3-1 record, and sported solid red uniforms while the supporting homecoming crowd was arrayed with red, white and blue.

The Vikings won the toss and deferred to the second half, so the Warhawks got an opportunity to set the tone to start the game.

Unfortunately the offense wasn’t able to secure a first down on the opening drive, and had to punt it away with 10:55 left in the first.

The Vikings were more successful on their opening drive, but after a false start pushed them back five yards, they were forced to punt it back to the Warhawks.

The Vikings didn’t have to wait long to get the ball back, however.

They were able to pick off the ball at the 50 yd line and place them well within view of the goal line.

While they weren’t able to capitalize on that turnover, they recovered a fumble with 44 seconds remaining in the quarter, and drew first blood to take a 7-0 lead.

The Warhawks ended the first quarter looking to get even with a run to the two-yard line, placing them in a favorable position for a touchdown entering the second.

With 10:27 left in the second the Warhawks finally punched it in, and with the extra point they tied the game up at seven.

The Warhawks would not go down easy in front of the homecoming crowd, the Vikings matched their energy and raised the intensity of the game.

The Vikings pushed the lead to 14-7 with 6:45 left in the half, but this time the Warhawks did not have a swift response.

The Warhawks went into halftime unable to even the score, and the second half didn’t get much easier.

The Vikings dominated the third and fourth quarters, scoring three more touchdowns in the process.

The Warhawks defense had a difficult time stopping the onslaught by the Vikings offense, the defensive line in particular seemed to struggle to control the line of scrimmage.

Tried as they might, the Warhawks fell 35-14 on homecoming and now look ahead towards their region schedule.
