While some parents opt for traditional summer activities like school or camp, Prostyle Volleyball Academy offers a unique experience for children of all ages.

Although volleyball might be new to many parents and children alike, that’s where Prostyle Volleyball Academy, PSVA, can step in.

Since its establishment in 2021, PSVA has catalyzed personal growth and success for many young athletes.

PSVA’s director, Erica Yarbrough, explained how PSVA has changed her life even as a coach. She was touched by the bonds shared between many girls in the gym and expressed her gratitude for having had the chance to help change lives.

PSVA offers many opportunities for children to experience volleyball, from beginners to advanced players. Participants will not only learn the game of volleyball, but develop essential life skills such as coachability, persistence and teamwork.

PSVA has year-round availability, with seasons offered in Winter and Spring as well as a Summer season offered to specific age groups.

PSVA has a proven track record of success as a pipeline to college athletics. This year they helped seniors Taylor Lamontange (Veterans) , Kirsten Acevedo (Houston County) and Zoe Lowe (Perry) achieve their dream of playing college volleyball.

One of PSVA’s primary goals since opening their doors in Houston County is to include people of all ages, which is why their Recreational League is open from Pre-K through 12th grade.

“Helping people of all ages find their love for volleyball is a big part of this community,” Yarbrough said.

Not only have many of these goals already been reached, but they have also influenced the skyrocketed popularity of volleyball in younger age groups.

The number of young adults trying out volleyball as their first sport or just for fun “has reached record highs,” according to girls on the 17-18-year-old teams.

Volleyball has an upbeat and outreaching community, and is a great way to be active and social in the Houston County community.
