WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — If you were dealing with some traffic on Highway 96 Thursday evening, a downed crosswalk signal may have been the culprit, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

HCSO received the call around 6 p.m. on March 30. According to Captain Clay Chambers, two vehicles were involved in the wreck: a GMC Safari and a Honda Pilot.

Both drivers said the other driver failed to yield at a red light. Upon further investigation it was revealed that the Honda failed to yield while making a left into the Lowe’s parking lot. The GMC was traveling westbound on Highway 96, where they collided.

The Honda took out the intersection’s crosswalk signal in the process, leading to the traffic lights flashing red on each side. Chambers reminded the public to treat flashing red lights the same as a four-way stop sign.

Houston County Fire Department and Houston Medical EMS also responded to the scene. No injuries were ultimately reported.
