Two arrested following Sunday shooting
On June 21, 2020 at approximately 3:15 p.m., Warner Robins Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of American Blvd. in reference to two persons shot. Officers met with a 14-year-old male juvenile who had been shot in the leg and a 22-year-old male who had been shot in the shoulder. The males advised they were walking in the area when they were shot.
Through the investigation, officers arrested Christopher Barnes for an open warrant in the 400 block of Carolina Avenue. After speaking with Barnes, and further investigation with the two shooting victims, it has been determined the two gunshot victims actually attempted to rob Barnes during a drug deal.
Brandon Jones (35), who was in the home during the robbery attempt, shot 22-year-old V’Daul Guyton in the shoulder and the 14-year-old juvenile in the leg. The attempted robbery took place at 406 Carolina Avenue, Barnes’ residence. The firearm found in the 500 block of American Blvd. was Guyton’s sawed-off shotgun used in the robbery attempt.
Guyton was released from the hospital the day of the event. The juvenile, who is in Grady Hospital, will face charges later. Guyton was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. Jones was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.
