Turner’s Antiques coming to Marshallville

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It was so exciting to meet Shelley Turner last week who was busy working in her vintage storefront in downtown Marshallville.   The building still sports the original vintage Frigidaire dealer sign on the front of the building.  It is also across the street from the the old 1894 General Merchandise store that belonged to Shelley’s husband’s great grandfather.

Shelley’s antiquing roots run deep as she is married to Tom Turner, son of famed local painter, Louise Turner.  I have sold many a beautiful magnolia or camellia painting by Miss Louise.  Her prized paintings are highly desirable and still collectible to this day.  Tom has quite a large and impressive collection of antiques himself.

Tom and Shelley were able to save many of the original antique store counters, and fixtures from the old general store and move them to the new shop.  Most of them are beautiful old heart pine.  Many other fixtures are in the process of being restored for future use in the antique shop as well so they can all be enjoyed and appreciated by the customers.  Be sure to notice the original 3 way dressing mirror on display from the late 1800’s.

Shelley grew up in Musella and her family owned an old general store there as well so it was only natural for this former Delta flight attendant and Auburn grad to return to her roots in small town middle Georgia.  Tom and Shelley have been married 46 years,  have two daughters and two granddaughters and will be opening for business this Saturday, December 1st at 10:00 a.m.  They hope to be open every weekend in December and will feature antiques, collectibles, china, special Louise Turner prints, wreaths, florals and much more!

Turner’s Antiques is partnering with another beautiful shop in Marshallville, Market on Camellia.  Both shops will be having a holiday open house from 10-3 December 1st.  It’s only ten to fifteen minutes from Perry or Fort Valley and well worth the drive!  Happy Collecting!
