Trespassers found in abandoned home

On Wednesday, The Perry Police Department was called to a residence on Hillcrest Avenue in response of possible stolen property in the home’s backyard. According to Captain Heath Dykes, responding officers did, in fact, find two stolen bikes in the backyard as well as a busted window at the rear of the home. Upon further investigation of the broken window, Dykes said that officers observed movement in the blinds of the house.

Dykes said that according to the homeowner, no one should have been in the house. Law enforcement officers entered the home and retrieved six individuals from inside, three adults and three juveniles. The adults were 17-year-old Lvauntcz Dyer, 21-year-old Jaylan Adams, and 18-year-old Caitlin Brown. Dykes noted that the three adults were taken to the Houston County Detention Center and will be charged with offences such as burglary, theft by receiving, entering auto, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Dykes said that the three juveniles consisted of two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old, one of which was a runaway, and another, a missing person with no officially filed report. Dykes explained that the juveniles might be facing some of the same charges, pending a court petition.
