New Year’s Eve night proved to be a slow night for Perry

Police with the exception of one traffic stop.

According to Perry Police Capt. Heath Dykes, Officer Simpson

made the stop on a 2001 Acura that Tommie Lee Penix Jr., 38, was driving.

Simpson found that Penix had numerous warrants for his

arrest, was driving under the influence and had five bags of methamphetamine.

Simpson also found a knife in Penix’ pocket.

Dykes said Penix was arrested and charged with bail jumping,

possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute, DUI,

driving on a suspended license and possession of a weapon during the commission

of a crime.
