Top 15 Most Wanted announced
Macon Regional Crimestoppers announced the list of the Top 15 Most Wanted individuals in the region in press conference held Tuesday morning in Macon. Members of law enforcement at the state, federal, and local levels were in attendance, as well as Macon Regional Crimestoppers Chairman Warren Selby and the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, Charlie Peeler.
According to Peeler, “These offenders who make the list are charged with the most serious violent crimes.” Peeler further noted that included in these violent offenses were armed robbery, murder, bank robbery, rape, child molestation, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The wanted that are placed on the list may come from Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Twiggs, Monroe, and Peach Counties.
Peeler also emphasized the importance the public may play in the apprehension of these subjects on the list.
“Macon Regional Crimestoppers and all of our law enforcement partners are committed to common sense strategies to drive down violent crime in all of our communities, but we cannot do it alone. We’re here to ask you, the public, for your help. If you have information on the whereabouts of anyone on this top 15 list, contact Crimestoppers. As Crimestoppers likes to say, ‘make the call,’” Peeler said.
Selby echoed Peeler. “I would encourage the public, if you have any information, to please contact us at 1-877-68CRIME, [or] you can go to www.crimestop.us and provide information. As Mr. Peeler said, please make the call.”
In February of 2019 Macon Regional Crimestoppers, along with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, committed to release a Top 15 list Most Wanted list quarterly, and of the 45 individuals placed on the list last year, to date, 41 have been apprehended. The list released Tuesday is the first quarterly list for 2020, where one has been apprehended and 14 remain at large. The agency also offers rewards for anonymous tips that lead to arrests, and with the individuals on this first list of 2020, Selby said that the reward had been set at $1,000.
