Thomson Middle School’s eighth graders in the gifted department took part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity during their field trip to Washington, D.C. on March 29. The students were granted permission by Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns. In addition, students observed the Changing of the Guard and explored the grounds and monuments commemorating service members from all branches of the military. Observing the endless rows of crosses, students gained a sense of the magnitude of the sacrifice of those who are buried there. Pictured in the photograph are Anna Moore, Sarah Eskew, Henna Patel and Natalie Scully. The wreath was donated by The Daisy Patch of Perry.
