There Are No Small Elections
It is election season again. The time has come for us to make decisions about who will be our voice or representative in government. This year is dominated by local elections, such as city council seats and the like. Though they may not get the same kind of attention from the media and the masses as state and national elections, our local elections are no less important.
Who decides how money is spent on road repairs, recreation, wastewater treatment, employee salaries, police, fire and other safety issues? The legislative branch of government on the local level. The city councilpersons, county commissioners and board of education members. The effective execution of translating federal and state laws in your community by these local elected officials makes participation in the voting process that much more important.
Make a plan for you and your family to learn who are the candidates and what they stand for. It would be a tragedy and a travesty to have someone represent your community and they only try to represent few people who may or may not live in your community.
Are there people that you can be of assistance to by voting? Of course, there are.
Are there people you help by voting? Of course, there are.
Are there ways you can encourage others to vote? Of course, there are.
Are there decisions you have an impact on by voting? Of course, there are.
Are you making a difference by voting? Of course, you are.
Voting is the big stick that walks softly. f your elected officials don’t hear you, let them see you.
Voting is the awakened sleeping giant. If the representatives you have are not effective, let them know your discomfort by getting up and voting.
Voting is the stick that stirs the drink. If all of your chocolate syrup has sunk to the bottom of your glass, voting stirs things up so that a refreshing occurs.
Voting is the little hinge that swings the big doors of government. If the doors don’t work right, check your hinges.
Whatever your concerns are or whatever you have expectation about in your local government you can make an immediate impact by showing up and making an informed choice by voting.
Get informed!
Get involved!
Get your vote on!
