The Demons bounce back against Ola, move to 3-3 in region play

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Last week, Warner Robins lost to Veterans at home, and they were looking to get back on track against Ola, a region opponent.

They started out hot on offense as Cam Perkins, who picked up eight points in the first quarter, and Gabe Jacobs, who had 10 points in the first quarter, started lighting it up from outside. Warner Robins’ defense was having success with the full-court press, and it was giving Ola problems. They took a 23-15 lead and kept up the pressure in the second quarter.

In the second quarter, it was more of the same as Justin Hill got in on the action from long range, and he had five points. Isaiah Gibson got free underneath and jammed home the one-handed slam, pumping up the crowd. Warner Robins’ defense was relentless, and they finished with 16 steals on the night, a major factor in this game.

Jay Johnson found his rhythm in the second half, and he dropped 16 points, guiding Warner Robins to victory, 81-67. Warner Robins had 44 rebounds as well, and they shot 43% from the field. They will face Locust Grove this Friday in a region matchup, and then they will host archrival Northside in Saturday, which should be a good game.

After they play Northside, the Demons will have to play five more region games, and they need to win as many as they can, for that will determine their seed in the playoffs. This Warner Robins team has a lot of talent, and they should pull it together in the second half of the season. Coach Garman is no stranger to the playoffs, and he knows what needs to be done. I expect them to hit a win streak in the second half of the season and cruise into the playoffs.
