That Ain’t Right!

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

There are some things in our society that we give attention to the wrong way. Things that should be vilified, but instead, we glorify. Things that should be ostracized, but instead, we enable. Things that get glamorized that should be criticized. In the words of a popular comedian, “That ain’t right!”

Knowing more about entertainers than elected officials. That ain’t right!

Knowing more about personalities than positions on issues. That ain’t right!

Knowing voting matters but not casting a vote. That ain’t right!

Knowing more ways to crack a code than how to write code. That ain’t right!

Knowing more about lawless behavior than the laws themselves. That ain’t right!

Knowing how to make it better but saying nothing. That ain’t right!

Knowing how to earn a living but not how to live a life. That ain’t right!

Knowing how to get money but not saving any. That ain’t right!

Knowing how to discipline but not doing it. That ain’t right!

Knowing how to celebrate champions but not how to gain victory. That ain’t right!

Knowing the need for truth in education but not providing it. That ain’t right!

Knowing what corruption is but not calling it out. That ain’t right!

Knowing what faith does but not using it. That ain’t right!

Knowing that participation and winning are different but treating them the same. That ain’t right!

Knowing this is a land of immigrants and not wanting certain immigrants in. That ain’t right!

Knowing that all life is valuable but only protecting some. That ain’t right!

Knowing that war has a cost but not wanting to take care of the participants. That ain’t right!

Knowing that freezing an embryo does not kill it, but freezing a person will and expect us to think it is the same. That ain’t right!

Knowing that all Black people do not think getting arrested is a good thing but trying to pass it off as if they do. That ain’t right!

To paraphrase an old saying about good men who say nothing, we will see all types of evil will prosper. As you read this piece, what kind of person are you? That question, and many others like it, will only be answered by the annals of time. Check the list out, ask a friend how you are doing in these areas, and if you find yourself on the wrong side of the right, make a change. If you choose not to change… THAT AIN’T RIGHT!
