Ten juveniles arrested for entering 27 autos in a span of a month
The Perry Police Department arrested ten juvenile offenders due to a string of 27 entering auto cases reported between June 29 and Aug. 7.
PERRY – The Perry Police Department arrested ten juvenile offenders due to a string of 27 entering auto cases reported between June 29 and Aug. 7.
According to a press release, the crimes occurred across several neighborhoods, including Cameron Court Apartments, Berkshire Court Apartments, Perry Heights Apartments, Oliver Place Apartments, Sewell Circle, Alice Drive, Spring Creek Drive, Third Street and Northside Road.
The press release says some of the juvenile suspects were detained and others were released to guardians. Over the course of the month, five vehicles had their ignitions and steering columns damaged. Three stolen firearms were also recovered during the investigation. Other stolen property included shoes and an iPad.
Charges ranged from Entering Auto and Property Damage to Theft by Taking and Receiving Firearms. One suspect also faces a charge under the Georgia Gang Act.
During the investigation, detectives executed two residential search warrants, seized eight cellphones and conducted four consent searches, according to the press release.
The Perry Police Department encourages residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and report suspicious activity immediately.
