Teen shot at Georgia National Fairgrounds
On May 29, 2021 at 10:48 p.m., officers with the Perry Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, Houston County Sheriff’s Office and GBI responded to a shots fired call at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. Through investigation, it was determined that a 15-year-old juvenile victim was shot in the leg west of the clock tower. The youth was transported to Navicent Health where he was listed as being in stable condition.
Perry police and other agencies used dogs and a helicopter to search the fairgrounds and woods nearby, but didn’t locate a suspect. Police haven’t released any further details, such as a description of who shot the teen or what led up to the shooting.
Shortly after the cleanup, the May Days event continued with normal police protection. Anyone that may have information or may have witnessed the incident is asked to please contact Det. J. Jones at 478-988-2833 or Capt. H. Dykes at 478-988-2824.
