Super Bowl Sunday: I’m going with KC. Who ya’ll got?

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The

Super Bowl is this Sunday and despite not having a dog in this fight -I’m a New

York Jets fan, I never have a dog in the Super Bowl fight- I want to make a

pick. I mean, what’s the big game without having a team to root for, even if

it’s just for one night.

The

Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to meet in Miami for

the national Football League championship and to be honest, I’ve only seen both

teams play a combined five times this season. The majority of that film study

being during the playoffs. I have no idea who should, could or will win this

game and that is precisely why I think it will be a really good Super Bowl when

all is said and done.

The

Chiefs are high-scoring; in fact, they are the highest scoring offense in the

National Football League. The 49ers have the league’s best defense. Something

has to give. Neither franchise, though both are very decorated in their own

right, has won a Super Bowl in quite some time. San Francisco won their last

championship in 1995. Kansas City was last successful in Super IV, in 1970.

Sunday’s game is the 54th edition of the country’s most watched singular

sporting event. It’s been 50 years since the Chiefs won it all. 50 years.

My

selection? Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I’m going with the Chiefs for a number of

reasons. One, I like Eric Bieniemy as an offensive coordinator and play-caller.

I also would like to see Patrick Mahomes win a Super Bowl. He has a long career

ahead of him and a title this early would put him among the all-time greats.

The same could be said for Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Nevertheless I’m

taking the Chiefs by a score of 35-21.

Happy

Super Bowl Sunday
