Sun shines on Perry Junior League’s opening ceremonies
PERRY, Ga. — The rain cancelled the Perry Junior League’s opening ceremonies for baseball on Saturday, but on Sunday the sun shined for the PJL as they introduced their softball and co-ed teams for the 2024 spring season.
They also announced this year’s board members, recognized last year’s All-Star teams, and threw the first pitch.
Throwing this year’s first pitch was none other than Delaney Dykes, who at the young age of five has been through 13 rounds of chemotherapy. 90-percent of her brain tumor has been removed, and this season she’ll be able to participate on the 6U Sandlot Sisters, coached by her father Clay Dykes.
On March 8 she’ll undergo the first stage of corrective eye surgery, and the PJL asked everyone to keep that family in their thoughts and prayers.
Here were the teams announced on Sunday: (A complete list can be found on perryjuniorleague.com/schedules-and-standings)
