Sue Chitty Lott, 88, was surrounded by family when she passed peacefully on May 2, 2025. Born in Bonifay, Florida to Corinne Cox and Henry Chitty, Sue had one brother, Charles Chitty. Sue spent her childhood in the Florida panhandle, and graduated from Florida State University. She married Jack Bush in 1954 with whom she had three children: Boni Bush, Marty Bush, and Hank Bush. In 1963, she received her Master’s degree from the University of Georgia. A well-loved educator, serving as Dean of Women at ABAC, and long-time school counselor, Sue’s commitment and dedication to her students earned her many awards and accolades throughout her long career and left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

While education was Sue’s passion, her love extended even further to her friends and family. In 1977, Sue married the love of her life, Doug Lott with whom she shared 48 wonderful years. Both active in their communities, Sue was a proud member of Daughters of the King, Beltista Club, and Perry Garden Club. She believed in giving back to others and was an active member in her church, St. Christopher’s Episcopal, establishing a thrift store, Attic Treasures, which lives on in her stead. Sue’s love for her community was exceeded only by the love for her family. In addition to her three children, Sue, or Mama Sue as she was affectionately called, was blessed with five grandchildren, Brad, Maggie, Madison, Jax, and Harper, and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Clayton, Bodhi, Delilah, and Halle. Beloved matriarch, embodiment of patience and acceptance, the light of Sue’s fearless, loving spirit will carry on in the hearts of all who knew her.
