Strato Cleaners Returning to their roots
The Edenfield family first opened Strato Cleaners in 1960 in Warner Robins. Later in 1973, they added men’s clothing to the business and it became “Strato Cleaners and Men’s Clothing.”
After 43 years, current owners Greg Edenfield and Sebie Lacey have decided to close out the men’s clothing side of the business.
In 1988, Edenfield and Lacey took ownership of the business. Lacey is an original member of the rock and roll group Stillwater. He said he toured with the band for 10 years.
“I was born and raised in Warner Robins and graduated from Northside High School in 1973,” said Lacey. “Back then, a lot of rock and roll bands were coming up, so my friends and I decided to join in. It was a fun ride, and we had a couple of hits.”
Lacey said after the band disbanded, he worked a couple of different jobs until his father-in-law approached him about taking over Strato Cleaners.
“Here we are 29 years later and I enjoy it,” said Lacey. “The business has really grown. About 10 years ago, we expanded the cleaners with a second location at Landing Point Plaza on Highway 247. Greg and I have decided to now just focus on the dry cleaning. It’s a tough decision to let go of the men’s clothing, but we have to do what’s best for business.”
Lacey said to be clear, the location on Watson will still be open for dry cleaning. Currently, they are having a closeout sale where all of the clothing is 50 percent off until it is all sold.
“We want to thank all of our patrons who have supported the men’s clothing over the years,” said Lacey. “And we certainly want everyone to take advantage of this sale.”
Lacey said they are in the process now of looking to add more drop stations around town.
“When we expanded 10 years ago, we put in all new state-of-the-art equipment,” said Lacey. “We are all about quality and want to give the best service to our patrons. The Edenfield’s have instilled that since day one. Greg has also served on the national dry cleaners board and has gone to school to study all of the different fabrics and chemicals. We continue to do so today what was instilled in this business — quality.”
