STEM Academy national finalist
The Museum of Aviation’s National STEM Academy has been named a finalist for one of the annual awards given by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and the TAG Education Collaborative. The Awards program recognizes schools, programs and companies for outstanding efforts and achievements in supporting and promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Education in Georgia.
The National STEM Academy was nominated for its day-long STEM program at Eagle Springs Elementary School. The program included exercises for second through fifth graders on Math and Mixtures with Chemical Reactions, Electricity and Engineering with Snap Circuit Moon Rovers and Engineering and Technology with Rocketry Apps on Ipads and creating and testing Propellers. Ten hands-on STEM Activities included: tornadoes, gummy gases, lava lamps, race car tracks, Legos, all about air, water cooling, paper straw rockets, pea shooter meteoroids, and circuit boards.
The Museum will find out on September 27 whether it has won the Best STEM Day Activity Award. All awards will be announced that day at the 2nd Annual Georgia STEM Education Awards event in Savannah.
