Houston County

The Lady Bears only played one game this week as their Thursday doubleheader against Northside was cancelled due to weather. That’s been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The game they did play, on Tuesday, was a 14-2 victory behind big third and fourth innings where they scored five and eight runs respectively. Kamille Evans pitched four innings and recorded four strikeouts to go with two walks and two earned runs.

Northside

Northside snapped their 10-game losing streak on Monday with a 13-8 win over Rutland on Monday. Kadence Cooley had a phenomenal performance with 12 strikeouts and only had five earned runs.

The Lady Eagles did lose on Tuesday, with eight errors not helping them in a 14-2 loss to Houston County. Their doubleheader against HoCo was rescheduled to Wednesday, Oct. 2 due to weather.

Perry

Perry’s winning streak ended at the hands of East Laurens a couple of weeks ago, but they’ve already started another one. They sit at four straight wins after their victory over ACE on Monday.

The 11-2 win was helped along by eight walks and eight hits in 23 at-bats. Emma Rose Wood, again, had a solid outing for the Lady Panthers with three strikeouts and two earned runs through five innings. She’s pitched 39 innings, the most of any Perry pitcher this season, and has 17 strikeouts to five walks in 2024.

Westfield

Westfield won 9-7 over Loganville Christian on Tuesday behind a big four-run sixth inning that saw them take the lead and never look back. Cate Raines, Riley Nelson and Savannah Scarisbrick all brought in runs in the sixth.

Their first region game against Strong Rock Christian was rescheduled from Thursday to Tuesday, Oct. 8 due to weather. They also play John Milledge Academy on Saturday at 1 p.m.
