Softball Roundup: Playoff matchups are set
Recap last week’s softball with the Softball Roundup.
The 2024 regular season is over for fast-pitch softball, and the playoff matchups are set for each team. Times are not available at the time of writing, but the first round will be held on Oct.18 and 19.
Here are those matchups:
Houston County

Thanks to their third straight region championship, the Lady Bears have a home-field advantage through the first two rounds. Their first opponent will be Winder-Barrow (11-13, 7-5 Region 8-5A).
Northside

Northside will not be participating in the playoffs this year.
Perry

Perry couldn’t secure a region championship, though they were tied with Wayne County for the best region record at 5-1. The Lady Panthers (17-8) won one less regular season game than the Yellow Jackets (18-7), and so they will be a two-seed in this year’s playoffs.
That does mean they have a home-field advantage in the first round, though, and they’ll host the three-seed from Region 5-4A. There’s not an official opponent named, but according to MaxPreps the three-seed is Southwest DeKalb (11-9, 11-5 Region).
Veterans

The Lady Warhawks may have lost out on a region championship, but they will still have a home-field advantage in the first round. Their opponent will be the three-seed from Region 8-5A — Apalachee (11-12, 8-4 Region).
Warner Robins

The Demonettes match up with the one-seed in Region 5-4A, the Marist War Eagles (21-8, 13-1 Region).
Westfield

The Lady Hornets finished the regular season 13-9 overall with a 3-3 region record, which is good enough for second place in District 5-3A. However, the playoff matchups are not available at the time of writing.
