HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga — As talented as they come, Skylar Bailey was simply transcending during her career as a Houston County Lady Bear. Not only did she wreck havoc for opposing backcourts, Bailey was sensational in leading the Lady Bears to a region title 1-6A title. Thus, lead to Skylar being named as an All-Region 1-6A 1st team selection. Coached under Daniell Johnson, Skylar Bailey was a three-year varsity starter, at Houston County. Prior to signing her national letter of intent in 2021, Bailey averaged eight points, four boards, four steals, and two assists during her high school career. After an impressive senior campaign, Skylar signed her letter of intent to become a Lady Sugar Bear, at the University Of Central Arkansas.

Her time in Conway, Arkansas is seemingly coming to an end. The 5’8 Kathleen native recently announced her decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Now, many readers may wonder — What is the NCAA transfer portal? The NCAA transfer portal is a compliance system created in October 2018 by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to manage and facilitate the process for student-athletes seeking to transfer between member intuitions. While numbers show the transfer portal is a risky move for most athletes, many athletes have benefitted from the transfer portal.

“First I would like to thank GOD and the coaching staff at the University of Central Arkansas for giving me the opportunity to continue playing the game I love, and for everything they have taught me,” added Bailey.

While at the division-one Central Arkansas, Skylar played in games against Oklahoma, Kansas State, Louisiana Monroe, Hendrix and Northern Kentucky. In her inaugural collegiate season, Bailey had a season high in minutes, with 23, against Kansas State.

“I am thankful for the experience, and the memories I have made with my teammates over the last year. I will cherish the relationships I have built here forever! With that being said, I will enter the transfer portal with four years of eligibility. I am so excited for the next step,” said Skylar Bailey.

Skylar’s high basketball IQ and facilitating ability allows her to get teammates involved. Skylar Bailey also possesses the skills and ability to attack the basket on bigger defenders. With all four years of her eligibility left, Skylar Bailey will likely be the “hidden gem” of another schools’ recruiting class.
