Sharks win 2022 wheelchair football title

ATLANTA, Ga. — The AAASP/GHSA Wheelchair Football State Championships, both JV and Varsity took place last weekend in Clayton County. Adapted sports athletes from across Georgia competed for the AAASP/GHSA state title.

The Houston County Sharks beat the WGA Wolverines, on last saturday. The Houston County Sharks also went undefeated this entire season, with a record of 24-0.

The Junior Varsity and Varsity championship games were hosted by Clayton County Public Schools at

Mundys Mill High school. The Houston Sharks and the Clayton Eagles competed in the title game.The AAASP/GHSA Wheelchair Football Regular Season finished up last weekend. Here are the end of season standings going into the Championships this weekend:

The Varsity is below.

1st place – Houston Sharks

2nd – West Georgia Wolverines

3rd – DeKalb Silver Streaks

4th – Clayton Eagles

The Junior Varisty is below. 1st place – Gwinnett Heat

2nd place – Houston Jr. Sharks

3rd place – Muscogee Lions

The American Association of Adapted Sports Programs (AAASP), headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a not-for-profit association dedicated to developing interscholastic adapted sports programs in partnership with national, state, and local educational agencies.

It represents a standardized approach to extracurricular adapted team sports and has developed one of the nation’s most comprehensive school-based athletic programs for students with physical disabilities attending grades 1-12.
