Richard Daniel “Dick” Weir
ELKO –
Richard Daniel “Dick” Weir, 79, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015,
after an extended illness. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday,
July 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of
flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the
donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Weir was born in Canadaiegua, New York, to the late Daniel and
Lillian Bryant Weir. He married the love of his life, Joy Danzig in
1955, and they moved to the Americus/Sumter County area in 1957. They
moved to Houston County in 1974 and have lived there ever since. Mr.
Weir was the owner/operator of D & D Bull Motel, an artificial
insemination business for cattle. He was a Methodist. Mr. Weir was
preceded in death by his brother, Robert Weir.
Left to cherish the memories of Dick are his loving and devoted wife of
60 years, Joy Weir of Elko; his children, Donald Weir of Elko, Kathy
Weir of Byron, and Donna Boatright (Steve) of Blackshear; his
grandchildren, Dustin Weir, Daniel Weir, Margaret West (Holden), and
Stephen Boatright; his great-granddaughter, Dawson West; his sister, Marion Golisanno (Fred) of California; and his brother, William Weir (Miriam) of Hepzibah.
