Georgia Southern softball pitcher Sarah Purvis of Northside High has been named Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon. The junior right-hander tossed the first perfect game in program history on Friday night and held the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide scoreless for eight innings.

Purvis needed just 91 pitches to dismiss all 21 outs on the win over Southern Illinois on Friday. She fanned 11 batters in the game as she picked up her fourth win of the season.

Against Alabama, Purvis held the defending national champions scoreless for eight innings as the Eagles took the nation’s top-ranked team to extra innings. In the final game of the weekend, Purvis came on in relief for the first time this season and picked up the win with an inning and a third of work.

Overall, Purvis is 5-1 on the season with an 0.79 ERA. She has struck out 46 batters this year and held opposing batters to a .145 batting average in 35.1 innings of work.
