Pray for our president and nation daily

Now that our new President Donald Trump has been sworn into office, I must tell you that I did vote for him because if he does 75 percent of what he says he will do, he will make this nation great again.

Since becoming eligible to vote many years ago, I have always voted for the office of president of the United States. Most times I voted for a Republican candidate but not always. One Democrat running for president that I did vote for was John F. Kennedy.

Throughout every election year, we all should pray that God will place the right person in the place of leadership of our great nation and we should pray daily for our president that has been elected.

What I have learned over the years is that sometimes my choices and God’s choices are not the same. I was married to the love of my life when I was 20 years old and she was 18, which was a little young, but God allowed it to happen and I am thankful for that.

None of us really know what is in store for us as a nation with a new person in office as our president. We did not know what was in store for us when Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama were elected either. Once they were elected, whether I voted for them or not, they became my president and I prayed for them because they need our prayers.

Some of our workers in America have to work two jobs in order to make a living and that is not right in a nation as rich as ours. Likewise, some of our workers have to drive almost two hours a day to their jobs and almost two hours back home, but if that is what their jobs require, they have to do it.

A long commute to and back from their jobs and those who have to work two jobs to make a living is not good because they might not be able to spend the time that they need to with their spouses or children.

This, my friends, is why we should pray every day for the person who leads our nation and those who serve in our Senate and House of Representatives that they will make it a place where we can all move forward and not simply a select few.

God has richly blessed us as a nation and we should do our part in helping make the lives of all Americans better. Please pray without ceasing for our new president and pray without ceasing for our nation that it will become a better Christian nation once again.

Also pray daily that we will all be happier, better Christians and richer in the days, weeks and years ahead. There is no reason for this not to happen if we all will think as much of others as we think of ourselves.

May God continue to bless America, the land of the free and home of the brave, and remember to pray for our President Trump and the other elected officials in Washington daily.
