Postive rabies case found in Houston County

According to a news release from the North Central health district, there has been a positive case of rabies found in Houston County.
 
People in Houston County are being warned by the health district that anyone in the neighborhood around Shamrock Circle off of Dunbar Road who may have been in contact with a stray pit bull to get checked out.
 
The dog was wandering the neighborhood, according to the release. The animal was picked up after it bit a person who was playing with it and then tested positive for rabies.

 

The health district says anyone who may have been bitten or come in contact with the dog’s saliva should get checked out.
