PJL 6U Boys heading to World Series
PERRY, Ga. — The Perry Junior League (PJL) has won big over the past few weekends. The Perry Junior League will also look to bring more hardware back to Perry this season. The 6U baseball team won the Dixie Youth State tournament over the weekend.
“Players were very excited!” Manager Justin Beatty said. “Our first practice we talked about our biggest goal, and it was to win state and have a shot at the World Series. To earn this opportunity, these kids practiced for three hours a day, three days a week, over a two-month period in 100+ degree heat. You could tell that we had worked harder than everybody, and that’s been our message to the kids. Nobody will outwork us.”
Members of the PJL 6U organization include coaches Kirk Peaster, Jason Settles and Brad Knowles. The 6U team members are Cruz Banks, Campbell Beatty, Cooper Blalock, Rhett Griffin, Mason Harrell, Wyatt Horton, Waylon Knowles, Kam Peaster, Jaxon Settles, Graham Sutton and Grant Whitaker.
Since winning the Dixie Youth State tournament, the PJL 6U will advance to the Dixie Youth World Series to take place in late July in Monroe, Louisiana.
“July 20th we leave for Monroe, Louisiana, to play the other top 6U teams for the Southeast,” Beatty said. “The boys are excited, but we still have work to do and they understand that. We have a great group of players, coaches and parents.
In 2022, the Perry Junior League has excelled in preparing their All-Star teams. While preparing for the Dixie Youth World Series, this PJL all-star team has a few more weeks to prepare. For these players and coaches, the World Series is an exciting experience to look forward too.
The Perry community supports their athletes. “We appreciate the local support we have gained and look forward to carrying out momentum to Louisiana,” says Justin Beatty.
