PJL 10U All-Stars claim historic state title
PERRY, Ga. — The Perry Junior League (PJL) has continuously developed local athletes into fan favorites throughout the years. A huge part of that is critiquing their athletic abilities at a young age. In 2022, the PJL has also sent numerous All-Star teams to state and national tournaments — where some all-star teams finished top three. Several PJL All-Star teams have represented the Peach State in national tournaments after winning their respective Georgia Dixie Youth State tournament.
Another team who has won their respective state tournament is the PJL 10 and under all-stars. The developmental coaches of the 10U include: Philip Yoder, Sheldon Shelton and Dan Grahl. The 10 and under coaches are anticipating the World Series, but cherish the honor and privilege to impact the youth. The manager of the PJL 10 and under team is Dan Grahl and he believes their dedication will speak for itself.
Participation numbers are growing at a substantial rate for the Perry Junior League. The major increase in numbers may have a correlation with the success and talent being produced in Houston County’s youth. Building chemistry among teammates is a valuable trait in sports at every level.
Coaching staff of the PJL 10U left the following remarks: “This state title gives Perry Junior League another opportunity at a Dixie Youth Little league World Series title. There are several divisions this year all competing at high levels trying to bring home a World Series title. We are excited to have the opportunity to represent not only Perry but also the entire state of Georgia in the Dixie Youth World Series. We will be competing against some of the best teams in the southeast. This is a wonderful opportunity for these young men to represent the state of Georgia and continue to play baseball at a high level,” says Coach Yoder and Grahl.
“The players were excited to win the state championship and it was a special moment for the guys and their families. Everybody was jumping around and pumped up after their big win. This win allows us to compete for the Dixie Youth World Series 10U title in Lumberton, North Carolina. Tournament dates are August 5-11. The tournament has 12 teams from the southeast in a double elimination tournament. Our first game will be August 6th versus Arkansas at 1 pm,” mentioned the PJL 10 and under coaching staff.
