PERRY — The Perry Police Department is investigating the homicide of Mason Davis Holt, 21, of Warner Robins that took place Monday night at Ida Lasseter Circle.
According to Major Heath Dykes, Perry Police Department was dispatched to the area at 6:37 p.m. after hearing there were shots fired.
“Once we got over one scene, we discovered a male that had been shot multiple times. Officers immediately started rendering aid to him and got him loaded into the ambulance,” he said.
Dykes said Holt passed away on the way to the Atrium Health. He added the police department is currently looking for and trying to identify the shooter.
“The best description we got [of the shooter] is a Black male, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 who was seen in that area, and we’re currently investigating. CrimeStoppers has a $2,000 reward to anyone who has information leading to his arrest,” he said.
The cause of the shooting is still unknown at this time.
“I don’t want to speculate at this time, but there was definitely some kind of argument or struggle, but something ensued into [Holt] getting shot,” he said.
The City of Perry has not had many shootings recently. Dykes said it is not the norm, but the city has seen a fair share over the years.
“It’s very odd as the victim is out of Warner Robins, so I really don’t understand what his purpose being down here was and why he was meeting up with somebody over there,” he said. “We’re trying to figure that out and hope to get some answers soon.”
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at 1-877-68CRIME or Detective Ike Wilcox at (478) 338-0255 or (478) 988-2848.
