Perry Junior League teams on title quest
PERRY, Ga. — The 6U, 7U and 8U teams of the Perry Junior League played in their district tournaments this past weekend.
Justin Beatty coached the 6U Maroon team. They went undefeated, earning first place in the district. They will represent the PJL at the state tournament in Cochran on June 23-25.
The 7U team, coached by Brandon Miller, played with the 8U group. They placed 3rd in the district and won the Sportsmanship Award.
John Whitaker coached the 8U-and-under team. Perry Junior League President Christy Bridges also mentioned the fact that the 8U team was undefeated in the district tournament and first place in the district.
“They will represent us at the state level in Cochran, also on June 23-25,” Bridges said. “The 8U boys will be wearing maroon jerseys.”
Jacob Harper and Dan Grahl coached Perry’s 9U & 10U teams. Both the 9U and 10U will play in the 10U district tournament taking place June 10-12 in Schley County.
The PJL’s 11U and 12U teams will play in the 12U district tournament on June 17-19. Kyle Gordon coaches the 11U team, and Kevin Bently coaches the 12U team.
“We are excited about the potential that our all-star teams have this year,” Bridges said. “We have a great group of players and coaches! Many teams have already started fundraising, and we are grateful for the support of local businesses.”
