“Perry is my heart.”
Recently, the Perry Chamber of Commerce appointed a new president & CEO. Maggie Schuyler, a native of Moultrie, Georgia, is more than qualified for the job.
“I attended Georgia Southern University from 2001 to 2007, where I earned both my bachelors and master degrees,” said Schuyler. “I came to Perry straight out of college and I held my first position as the events and fundraising coordinator. I held this position from 2007 to 2009. I was always very involved in the community. After my departure, I worked in higher education for 12 years,” she explained.
Schuyler believes going full circle helped prepare her for the current role she serves. “After leaving Houston County, I stayed involved with the community. Perry is home to my husband and I, so this is where we want to be.”
As the president and CEO of the Perry Chamber Of Commerce, it is her duty to make sure all members’ voices are heard and to represent all affiliates at the local and state levels. Schuyler remarked that her door is always open, whether it is during working hours or afterward. She also mentioned that she is looking to build long-lasting partnerships, which expand farther than Perry, Georgia.
“I intend to establish a partnership with downtown merchants, the city of Perry and the Georgia National Fairgrounds too. I will get to know my businesses, and over time, they will succeed.”
Schuyler has lived in Perry, Georgia for 11 years now. She served on the CVB board of directors from 2015 to 2018. She was also a member of the Zaltana Civic Club from 2012 to 2018. Schuyler shared that she wants to help the community that she loves grow more than it already has.
“After I get to know my businesses, I will help them to thrive continuously,” she stated.
The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce has resources for any business owner in Perry and it prides itself on connecting businesses with one another. Additionally, the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce has developed strategic ways to help local businesses and business owners. Currently, the chamber has virtual and digital initiatives, alongside other resources to help. The Perry Area Chamber is certainly positioned to be a leader in middle Georgia.
In sharing some final thoughts with The Journal, Maggie Schuyler said, “I plan to overall represent the Perry Chamber and assist representatives with all affiliates locally and statewide. I will make sure Perry businesses are represented around the state and locally, as well. I love middle Georgia, and Perry is my heart.”
