Eleven hits were not enough to ensure Perry High softball of a 2013 season-opening win Tuesday when the Panthers took on GMC Prep of Milledgeville at the Panther Pit. In a game that had nine single-run innings (including both halves of the seventh), GMC Prep edged Perry 6-5.

Kaley Sikes pitched a complete game, struck out nine and scattered six hits for Perry. She was also one of four batters for coach Lorne Tucker to produce a multi-hit line. Sikes doubled among her two hits and drove home two runs.

Top Perry hitter was sophomore infielder Mattie Hamilton with three hits and one RBI. Sabrina Doucette and Keeley Winston each had two hits. Doucette doubled with an RBI, and Amber Garrett also doubled.
