A pedestrian was hit by a car and later died in Houston County last weekend.

Cpl. Justin Hall from the Houston County Sheriff’s Department said the time of the accident was 1:16 Sunday morning.

“It happened on the north-bound side of the (Highway) 247 and Davis Drive intersection,” Hall said, adding the driver of the vehicle who struck the pedestrian pulled over and was the one to call 911.

Lakeshia Deshawn Hickey was identified as being the name of the pedestrian, he said. She was immediately taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, but later died from her injuries.

“The toxicology test results are still pending,” said Hall. “(But) no allegations or charges have been made. It’s still under investigation but the driver has been very cooperative.”
