Panthers, Trojans and Bears battle it out on the gridiron
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Houston County Lady Bears played host to the Perry Lady Panthers and Peach County Lady Trojans on Tuesday in a packed night of flag football.
Lady Panthers successful against Peach County
Perry again faced off against Peach County and came away victorious 12-7.
Perry’s first possession started with an interception of an errant Peach County pass which Perry was able to take their offense 40-yards down the field with a pass for score and leading 6-0 after a failed extra point attempt.
Peach County answered with a touchdown of their own and would be successful on the point after to the lead the Panthers 7-6.
Perry would take the lead at halftime 12-7.
Perry started the second half much like the first with a long run on first down to roll down the field.
Although this was short lived as they threw an interception allowing Peach County to take over on their own 20-yard line.
Peach County had one last attempt to score to take the lead with less than two minutes, but Perry’s defense was able to rise-up and deny the score to take home the 12-7 win.
Lady Bears Shutout Lady Trojans
HoCo was able to score first after an interception of an errant Peach County pass.
The first touchdown was a long pass for the score but the extra point conversion was denied as HoCo took the 6-0 lead.
The defense stepped up and pulled a flag for a loss, leading to change of possession back to HoCo.
From there Mariyah Brown split the defenders to run the ball in for the second touchdown of the evening, taking the 13-0 lead.
HoCo added another score to end the half to go up 19-0 with a run by Elle Tucker.
They added one more score in the second half to win 25-0; their excellent defensive play prevented Peach County from scoring at all.
Lady Panthers battle to victory with the Lady Bears
Both Perry and HoCo came into the game without a loss, this one would determine who would walk away from the night without a loss.
The first half was a battle of defenses, as Perry held the only score going into half-time up 7-0.
HoCo started the second half on what looked like a completion but Perry pulled the flag for the tackle just before the pass was released, which caused a loss and Perry to take over.
Perry took the ball down the field and scored to lead HoCo 13-0 as the conversion failed.
HoCo closed the gap to trail 13-6, but they couldn’t get it done.
Perry came away perfect on the night with the 13-6 win, and HoCo split their games.
