Not the same old Demons

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Friday night’s 22-6 scrimmage win over Westside High School can be considered just that, a scrimmage victory, or it can be looked upon as a sign of things to come for the Warner Robins High School Demons. The win was a solid debut for senior running back Jaeven West and juniors Dylan and Tyler Fromm, already the team’s best quarterback and receiver, respectively. Returning senior running back Jarius Burnett found his way into the end zone, a place he seemed to frequent last season despite the team’s inefficiency on offense. Yes it was a scrimmage but it was also a start to something different, an improved football team.

“I thought we started off great,” says Dylan Fromm who was also making his first career high school start. “We realized we were a little better but still got a little sloppy. We’ll keep working like always.”

“I feel like we played really well for it to be our first full pad game,” said Armstrong via text on Saturday. “There is always room for improvement but I believe we showed that we are not the same team as last year.”

The Demons scored on their first drive on a touchdown pass from Fromm to senior receiver Julius Cobb. Another touchdown pass from Fromm, this time to sophomore receiver Marcayll Jones, showed the versatility of the Demons attack. A solid offensive line lead by senior Florida State University commit Christian Armstrong is going to go a long way to potentially locking up a 1-AAAAA title. Thomas County Central is returning tons of talent as is Veterans High School and head coach David Bruce, but the Demons may have the most offensive talent in the region this season. By far. This is definitely not last year’s Demons team.

The Demons open the regular season and non-region schedule against rival Northside High School on August 18. All of the improvements from Friday night and the practices from that moment forward will be put to the ultimate test. Here’s to a new football season from a new and improved Warner Robins Demons football team.
